“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Our strength and inspiration increase, even the more, as we give our self to the constant exploration of God’s words – the scriptures. The words of God give us insight into the knowledge of His person and nature. The reality about understanding individual personality is: we get to know anyone by the words he speaks at different occasions, the decisions he makes, his worldview, perspectives, and the judgement he makes on matters.
In the same vein, the way or will of the Lord is known and further understood by His words and dealings with people across generations.
The way of God is reflected in His words to Joshua, when He would have him take charge of the ministry and duty of leading the Israelites into the promised land, after Moses was called to the “great beyond”.
His words to Joshua were: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” These words to Joshua are powerful enough, because they reflect the ability and capability of God in taking care of the course of the duty for Joshua. The mighty ones would speak out of the confidence of their ability and strength. Their authority influences actions into performing their biddings or desires.
Our God is more than this. He is the creator of all that exists; the director in charge of the affairs of the entire universe. His desires hasten His commands and His commands establish His desires. So, when He says: “Do not be terrified”, He’s more than serious and He has all it takes to back you up and support you in the mission undertaken. Even in the mere walking through the experiences of today, as it is, God is saying the same thing; I am here, and I am with you through it.
The point is, the nature of God as established by His words is that, His promise to Joshua by these words in Joshua 1:9, is the same thing God is saying to you today. He is telling you right now that, since he has given you the charge to shine as the light of the world (Matt. 5:14), show forth His praise (1 Pet. 2:9), bear fruits that will abide (John 15:16), rejoice in Him always (Phil. 4:4), rebuke devils (James 4:7b), confess His words over your life and situations etc., He will never leave you nor forsake you to the task alone. He is with you wherever you go to prosper and to defend you. Halleluyah!
Therefore, in all your undertakings today, and moving further, as the days count and time ticks, trust Him who is able to make everything abundant for you and prosper you into bountiful testimony.
Now, rejoice over the advantage you have on every situations and circumstances – for the creator of the world says: you have no need to be frightened by them as He is with you for victory and blessing.
